The param eter identification of the shape filter producing the nonwh ite rail irregu larity w as carried out in aw ide frequency range to realize the shape filtering and thew avelength truncation together. A stepw ise tmi e- delay system based on the h igh orderPade approxmi ation w as proposed to smi ulate the large tmi e- delay excitationsunder raiwl ay trains. The authors comb ine the shape filter and tmi e- delay system to construct the rail irregu larity model w ith uniform w hite noise input. The state- space equation of train- bridge vertical vibrationw as derived, and w as integratedw ith the excitation model to obtain the expanded order train- bridge- excitation state- space equationw ith un iform wh ite noise disturbance. By extending the recursive covariancemethod to tmi e- variant system, the covariance response of train- bridge- excitation sys- tem w as obtained. Numerical results coincide w ith theM onte Carlo smi u lation. This indicats the correctness of the method. K e
