8 MANAGING THE PROJECT MODULE PROJECT TEAM TASKS Maintaining the Project Summary Bar Chart A preliminary project summary bar chart should be prepared in advance of the initial team meeting in order to illustrate overall project timing. The example shown in Figure 8.1 shows the project divided into modules that correspond with the methodology being presented. Maintaining Project Communications To maintain effective project communications, a project web page should be established that includes a project newsletter and discussion chat room. Various project management spreadsheets will be posted by the project manager and maintained online by the project team. Maintaining the Project Plan A project workplan should be developed to initiate and monitor progress. The workplan must include the process implementation sequence as well as the key tasks in each process implementation (Figure 8.2). Using the project workplan as a reference, the project manager should monitor all tasks of the implementation process (including overall planning and review), in addition to coordinating the work of the Lean Performance teams toward completion of their assigned tasks.
