Phrasal Verbs
to have on
1) to wear clothing e.g: do you have your coat on? It’s cold outside.
2) In British English, “to have someone on” means to play a trick on them e.g: no way,
you’re having me on, aren’t you?

Listener email
1) Bob read out a wonderful email from Luat Huynh. Thank you very much Luat.
2) Brian noted that if you are staying in the UK, you can watch certain programs with
subtitles by pressing 888 on the text channel. This option is also available in the States, but
we’re not sure what the number is. Any info on this would be welcome.
Ancient Japanese English Study Secret
Find a good dictionary: it is really useful to have one. We read out Nao’s email about
dictionaries, who said that it is important to use an appropriate dictionary at the proper
stage of our English development. Wise words indeed!
Collocational dictionaries and even Thesauri are great for advanced learners.
Idioms and Proverbs
“clean bill of health” means you are 100% healthy.
“An apple a day keeps the doctor away” means if you eat an apple a day, you will stay
healthy.
