Today’s Presentation Overview of Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone (PFTZ) PFTZ’s Impact on Investment Environment “Opening up” the service sector 2 Overview of Shanghai PFTZ Overview of Shanghai PFTZ - Background • Launched on 29 September, 2013. • PFTZ is a national strategy aimed to expedite the functional transformation of the government, explore administrative innovation, improving trading and investment facilitation, and to encourage a more “open” Chinese economy. • Overall plan for the Shanghai PFTZ, released by the State Council, sets out the blueprint of four major principles : Improve investment facilitations to meet international standards Deregulations of currency exchange controls Improve efficiency and flexibility in terms of government regulatory controls Legal environment specification • PFTZ is a testing ground for the strategy. Target for duplicated models in 2-3 years. 4 Overview of Shanghai PFTZ • Definition: Free trade zone is an area within which goods may be landed, handled, manufactured or reconfigured, and re- exported without the intervention of the customs authorities.  Shanghai PFTZ fully upgrades the function of current Tariff-free Zone. 5 Overview of Shanghai PFTZ • Covering an area of 28.78 square kilometers, the new zone consists of the four following existing bonded zones: • Waigaoqiao Free Trade Logistic Park
