School of science and engieerning, Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin 150001, China 150000, China Abstract: The interface plays an important role in the mechanical properties of carbon fiber-reinforced composites. This paper mainly deals with the interfacial healing behavior of carbon fibers reinforced polyetherimide (PEI) composite via resistive heating. Carbon fibers were used as the heat source, directly heated the resin in the vicinity of the interface to achieve true interface healing. The resin PEI began to melt due to Joule heating, when the carbon fibers were straightened by the application of electrical field. The melting resin had a excellent infiltration with carbon fiber. The resin was re-cured because of the removing of power, meanwhile a new interface was obtained.
