November 1, 2012 2 Quick Instructions • Start a new Workbench project called pipe_bomb and create an Explicit Dynamics Analysis System • Import the geometry file called pipe_bomb.agdb • Double click Model cell to start up Mechanical © 2011 ANSYS, Inc. November 1, 2012 3 Quick Instructions • Check that the units are in mm • Set a shell thickness of 10 mm • Delete any contacts that were automatically generated • Select Mesh and set the min/max sizes under Sizing to 10 mm • Right click on Mesh and select Generate mesh • Insert Standard Earth Gravity (X direction) to your model -This will not significantly effect the results, but Explicit Dynamics cannot be linked to AUTODYN unless a body force or initial condition is included • Set an End Time of 0.00046 sec. • From the project page, link the set-up cell to an AUTODYN component system (Double Precision) • Update the AUTODYN cell to start AU
