Professional attitude Objectives Having ability to be sensitive to client’s strengths rather than only stressing on his/her symptoms when working with him or her. Able to maintain commitments to clients. Able to deal with the differences between own value and professional value. Able to recognize own strengths and weaknesses, and attempt to overcome those limitations. Able to remain calm in face of difficulties and frustrations. Able to learn from the experiences during the placement. Means Contacting with clients frequently, communicating with supervisor openly and self-reflection. Output/Assignment Reflection log, learning contract. Organizational appreciation and administration ability Objectives Able to identify current situation of social welfare in Hong Kong through practice within agency. Able to develop positive working relationship with all the colleagues. Understanding own role and completing own duties responsibly. Managing own workload and time independently and effectively. Means Discussing with colleagues frequently and openly and self-reflection. Output/Assignments Reflection log, orientation report. Knowledge and skills Objectives Familiar with social work principles, concept, approaches and theories and able to apply them flexibly. Able to build professional and constructive relationship with client and his/her various systems by using different communication skills. Able to assess client’s problems from different perspectives. Able to identify the real needs of clients. Able to identify and deal with different reactions of clients or groups during different stages of helping process, such as rejections at the beginning stage. Able to set SMART goals. Able to identify and deal with own feelings and emotions
