Sea Wolf Island It was the crab nipping at his hair that brought Andy round. He opened his eyes. A long-legged crab stared at him, holding strands of hair in its pincers. Andy waved his arms at it. “Get away!” Something tugged at his jeans. He looked down. It was another crab. Then he gasped. There were dozens of the creatures. They surrounded him. He tried to stand up but felt dizzy and lost his balance. There was a horrible crunching sound as he fell across some of the crabs. The others scuttled towards him. “No!” he cried. He forced himself up and ran unsteadily away. He kicked out at the crabs as he went. But he couldn’t see where he was going. “My glasses!” Andy put a hand to his chest. His glasses were still there, swinging from the cord he wore around his neck. He pushed them on and saw he was on a beach with rocks ahead. He continued running. He didn’t make it, though. The sand suddenly gave way beneath him, and he sank to his waist. Quicksand! It would suck him down and smother him. Don’t panic, Andy told himself. And don’t struggle. He closed his eyes and tried not to move. He stopped sinking as rapidly as before. But he could still feel the sand slowly dragging him into its de
