Section II Text In fact, a robot is basically a highly automated machine that is created to duplicate one or more physical capabilities of a person1. It is more apt to be just a mechanized arm with a metal gripper at the end that forms “a hand”. With that hand, robot can perform many different tasks. What is the difference between robot and human? Section II Text A tiny microprocessor capable of fitting on a silicon chip the size of a pea makes up the robot’s “brain”2. A few silicon chips are placed on two or three printed circuit boards to provide the input and memory bank functions. While plugged into an electrical outlet, this assembly of microprocessors, much like the human brain, transmits electrical impulses along pathway which run from the computer itself down the robot’s arm and into its hand. In humans, these pathways are the nerve fibers; in robots, they are electrical cables. Section II Text A large number of the world’s industrial robots are being used by the automobile industry with electronics firms. While the robot is initially quite expensive to buy, it quickly pays for itself because at certain jobs it can work faster and better than a human, thus boosting productivity and lowering production costs3.
