High-leg delta High-leg delta (also known as wild-leg or red-leg delta) is a type of electrical service connection for three-phase electric power installations. It is one of the several types of three phase service setups. It is used to provide an additional voltage that is half the phase to phase voltage. For example, 120 V lighting equipment and 240 volt motors can be fed off the same 3 phase 240 volt distribution system, where relatively a small part of the load is lighting. Consider the low voltage side of a 120/240?V high leg delta connected transformer, where the b phase is the high leg. The line-to-line voltage magnitudes are all the same: Because the winding between the a and c phases is center-tapped, the line-to-neutral voltages for these phases are as follows: But the phase-neutral voltage for the b phase is different: This can be proven by writing a KVL equation, using angle notation, starting from the grounded neutral: or: High leg应可以理解为斜边ab,wild leg应该可以理解为直角边bn.-宋宁 Used to reduce wiring costs by using a service cable with only two insulated conductors rather then the three insulated conductors used in a convention three phase service entrance. 三相二线,角接地三角形接法? 为了降低布线成本,使用两根绝缘导线而不是三相线路。 What is two-phase electrical service? Residential electric service in the United States (120/240 VAC) is sometimes called two-phase service but this is NOT correct. It is only single-phase, since both line voltages are derived from a single phase of a distribution transformer with a center tapped neutral and are 180° out of phase with each other. Two-phase service is an obsolete style of electrical power distribution where two phases are provided that are 90° out of phase with each other. There were two line wires and one neutral, so two-phase service was commonly a two-phase three-wire service. Another variation used four line wires and one neutral for a two-phase five-wire service. This was sometimes incorrectly called four-phase five-wire service. We are not aware
