Healthier!American!economy,!as!measured!by!multiple!indicators,!was!engine!for!7.1! percent!growth!in!charitable!giving! CHICAGO (June16,2015)—Americansgaveanestimated$358.38billiontocharity in2014,surpassingthepeaklastseenbeforetheGreatRecession,accordingtothe 60thanniversaryeditionofGiving!USA,releasedtoday.Thattotalslightlyexceeded thebenchmarkyearof2007,whengivinghitanestimatedinflation2adjustedtotalof $355.17billion. The2014totaljumped7.1percentincurrentdollarsand5.4percentwhen inflation2adjustedovertherevisedestimateof$339.94billionthatAmericans donatedin2013,accordingtoGiving!USA!2015:!The!Annual!Report!on!Philanthropy! for!the!Year!2014 . Inaddition,2014markedthefifthyearinarowwheregivingwentup;theaverage annualincreasewas5.5percentincurrentdollars(3.4percentwheninflation2 adjusted). Allfoursourcesthatcomprisetotalgiving!individuals(72percentofthetotal); corporations(5percent);foundations(15percent);andbequests(8percent)! uppedtheir2014donationstoAmerica’s12million2pluscharities,saysthereport, whichisthelongest2runningandmostcomprehensiveofitskindinAmerica.Giving!
