THE OPTIMIZATION OF THE RECTIFYING PROCESS BY VIBRO-ACUSTIC MONITORING OF PROCESSINGS (pI) Georgios Charalampides 1 , Aurel Abalaru2, Gh.I.Gheorghe2 , Octavian Dontu3, Daniel Besnea3. 1President TEI KOZANI – GREECE, 2 National Institute of Research and Development for Mecatronics and Measurement Technique, 3University “POLITEHNICA” of Bucharest Abstract – The article presents the contributions of the authors to the rectifying process accomplished by the research and development that resulted in new vibro-acustic monitoring and dimensional control methods and their subsequent integration into a modular monitoring system with an open architecture and both easy to re-configure and completed with new functions. Key words – rectifying process, vibro-acustic monitoring In order to maintain a high qualitative level of the processed pieces, the mechanical processing firms must implement control systems that are capable of operating very efficiently in unstable and high un-certainty conditions. The capacity to flexibly optimize the performances of the system through the control of the evolution of the variables that determine its stability and, consequently, the quality of the processed pieces represents a basic characteristic of any modern monitoring and control system. The monitoring of the rectification process in important since this is a finishing process that ensures a high level of geometrical precision (dimensions, shapes, surface quality). The output measure of the process, respectively the parameters of the processed piece and the abrasive disc, the active element that is consumed within the process were monitored. The monitored parameters represented different physical measures: The acoustic emission released during processing, with a slow changing speed; significant changes appear together with the advance of the status of the decay process of the abrasive disc; The vibrations that emerge in the bearings of the abrasive disc, as a result of the loss of the equi
