11/01127/FUL CHANGE OF USE FROM RETAIL (A1) TO HOT FOOD TAKEAWAY (A5) ALTERATIONS TO SHOP FRONTAGE AT 167 CONGLETON ROAD, BIDDULPH FOR MR. I. GARCHA. Parish: Biddulph Registration: 25/11/11 Case Officer: Miss. R.A. Simpkin Grid Reference 8876 5848 THE APPLICATION Full planning permission is sought to change the ground floor of these vacant shop units to a hot takeaway food outlet (a fish and chip shop is indicated). The flat over the shop is to remain. Building operations include the demolition of part of the building’s frontage to a depth and width of some 4.3m and 6.6m respectively to accommodate car parking spaces within the forecourt. The frontage alterations comprise of a large garage shutter door to replace the existing shop window behind which are two parking spaces for staff and occupants of the flat. The associated shop unit would be converted to a food preparation area involving the bricking up of the existing shop window to form a high level opening. The other adjoining shop unit would be fitted out to accommodate the fish and chip shop with a public waiting space of 15.6sqm. The fume extraction unit would be connected to a new chimney on the north side of the rear section of the building. The forecourt is shown with four parking bays alongside part of the building’s frontage, which contains the garage and food preparation area. There is a disabled persons parking space in the narrow northern section close to one of the entrance doors. Facing materials are detailed as matching brick. A litter bin and cycle store is further proposed. Opening hours are given as: Monday to Saturday 11.30 to 14.30, 16.30 to 21.30 and closed on Sundays and Bank Holidays. Existing employees are detailed as one full-time and three part-time staff.
