摘 要 本文从新闻标题的定义、分类以及功能三方面出发，讨论引起英语新闻标题的歧义现象，包括词汇歧义、句法歧义和语义结构歧义。之后分析引起英语新闻标题歧义现象的三种原因，包括文化原因、词汇原因和习语原因，最终找到避免歧义现象产生的四种基本方法策略。 论文研究的积极意义在于，通过分析英语新闻标题的歧义现象，帮助读者在今后日常阅读当中，顺利避免歧义现象的发生或者在短时间内对它进行辨析。探究英语新闻标题的歧义现象有着非常重大的意义，它使读者更加全面理解和获得整篇新闻内容的含义，同时也十分有利于教学的研究，帮助解决和翻译歧义现象。 歧义一直都是、今后也将会是各领域非常重要的组成部分，此文对歧义现象的研究有着非常深远的理论影响和实践意义。 关键词：英语新闻；标题；歧义现象；方法策略 ABSTRACT This article embarks the definition, classification and function of the English newspaper headline, and the present research of English newspaper headline ambiguity, the lexical ambiguity，syntactic ambiguity，semantic structural. Then we can analyze three causes of ambiguity of English newspaper headlines, the culture ambiguity, vocabulary ambiguity and idiom ambiguity, finally we can seek for the four strategies of avoiding the ambiguity. The significance of my study lies in the probability that via a thorough analysis of the ambiguity in English newspaper headlines, people would be easier to avoid it or to figure it out in the shortest time. It is of great value and importance to explore ambiguities in English newspaper headlines to have a better understanding and commanding of English newspaper headlines and to be good for English teaching, reading and translating. Ambiguity is always the focus in every walk of life, and remains to be, not only in linguistic field, but also in commercial circle and any other field.
