College of Resource and Environm ent, Fujian Agricu lture and Forestry University, Fuzhou, Fujian 350002, China) Abstract: Based on the princip le of electrochem icalm ethod, the effect of electro-k inetic treatm en t on the elmi ination of main heavy m etals in sludge at various voltage drop w as investigated. The resu lts showed pH values of sludge near anode decreased, and those near cathode increased slightly at the treatm ents of 0- 2. 0 V cm- 1 voltage drop. The conductivities of sludge near anodew ere low- er than those of untreated sludge, and obviously increasedw ith the d istance from anode. Except electric current of sludge colum n of 0. 5 V cm- 1 treatment changed slow ly w ith treating tmi e, those of other treatm ents increased before 28 h, then decreased. The elmi ination effect of total Cr in sludge of 1. 0 V cm- 1 treatment was much better than those of other treatm ents, inw hich the elmi -i nation rate w as 43. 02% . The elm
