The ZMWG supports the overall goal of the UNEP Global Mercury Partnership to protect human health and the global environment from the release of mercury and its compounds by minimizing and, where feasible, ultimately eliminating global, anthropogenic mercury releases to air, water and land. The ZMWG is an international coalition of more than 80 public interest environmental and health non-governmental organizations from over 45 countries from around the world formed in 2005 by the European Environmental Bureau and the Mercury Policy
