ABSTRACT
Copper(Cu)minetailings,becauseoftheirhighcontentofheavymetals,areusuallyhostiletoplantcolonization.
A potexperimentwasconducted todeterminethetoleranceoffourforagegrassestoheavy metalsinCu minetailings
and toexaminethevariation in themicrobialfunctionaldiversity ofsoilsfrom thetailing sitesin southern China.All
thefourgras sspeciessurvived on CuminetailingsandCu minetailing-soilmixture.However,onpureminetailings,the
growthwasminimal,whereas thegrowthwas maximum forthecontrolwithoutminetailings.Thetoleranceofgras sesto
heavymetalsofllowed thesequence:Paspalum notatum Festueaarundinaeea Lolium perenne Cynodon dactylon.
Theplantingofforagegrassesenhanced thesoilmicrobialbiomas s.TheBiolog data indicated thatthesoilmicrobial
metabolicprofilevalues(averagewellcolordevelopment,communityrichness,andShannonindex)ofthefourforage
grassesalsoofllowedthesequence:P.notatum F.arundinacea L.perenne C.dactylon.Thus.P.notatum.u
