( Received Nov. 16, 1998; accepted Nov. 20, 1999) Abstract Five isolates of M etar hiz ium anisop liae and one isolate of N omur aea r iley i were bioassayed against larvae of Plutella xy lostella .Larvae were treated by exposing cabbage leaf discs previously immersed in conidial suspension,and were then incubated at 25 and observed daily.One of M . anisop liae isolates,FI1248,originally from M astoter mes darw iniensis was found being most virulent against P . xy lostella .The LC was estimated as 50 4 7 203 10 conidia/ml with 9 d mortality data,and the LT was 497 d at concentration of 10 conidia/ ml.Iso- 50 late FI63 ( N . riley i showed virulence to P . xy lostella in both tests,but no cadavers sporulated.
