ChineseBusinessReview，ISSN 1537-1506 April2013，Vo1．12，No．4，298-304 TheDrivingForcesofCO2EmissioninChina：2002．2007木 LiboYuan，YinchuanXu ShanghaiUniversityofFinancialEconomics，Shanghai，China ShnaghaiUniversiytofEngineeringScience，Shanghai，China ThispaperprovidesacomputationonboththeChina’saggregateCO2emissionvolumenadtheemissionofeach sectorovertheperiodof2002·2007，basedontheinput—outputanalysis．Furtheranalysisisalsogivenonthe variousdeterminantsofthechangeintheemissionvolume，withtheaidofstructuraldecompositionnaalysis(SDA) basedonaresidual-freemethod．Basedontheinput—outputtableofChinain2002and2007，htemergeofsectors andtheadjustmentofpricechnagehavebeenmadeduringthesutdy．TheemissionsofcarbondioxideinChina increasedrfom 2，887．3milliontonto5，664．6milliontonduring2002-2007．Theaveragerateofincreaseis13_3％， fasterthna theaveragerateofgrossdomesticproduct(GDP)growth11．6％slightly．Accordingtotheprocessof SDA，thechnagesinemissionareanalyzedintemr soffourdifferentfactors．Amongthefourfactorssutdiedinthe paper，itisfoundthatthechangeofemissionintensiyt andstrucutreofdemandarethemainreasonofthedecrease ofemission，whileproductiontechnologyandscaleeffectincreasetheemissionvolume．Thepaperalsofindsthat alhtoughthedirectemissionintensiyt decreasedduringthestudyperiod，thetotalemissionintensiyt increasedwith theannualrateof3．8％．whichreflectstheresultofenergypolicyisnotequalindifferentsectors． Keywords：carbonemissions，input-outputtable，hybridunits，structuraldecompositionnaalysis，tradingstructure， emissionintensiyt IntrOducti0n A muchdebatedissueoverthelastdecadewastheenvironment．Fortheconsiderationofglobalwarmmg andthechallengeofenvironmentalchange，carbon cyclingandcarbonemissionbecomeanimportantissue
