In 1819 the 26 year old, trained blacksmith found ideal conditions for a new chain forging plant in Schwerte close to the River Ruhr. Here was enough water for generating energy and also for the tempering of the products. Already in 1834 Theile impressed visitors with his forged products at the World Exhibition in Paris.
