PHILIPP Agricultural Economist Hawaii Agricultural Experiment Station Univers ity of Hawaii I am going to give you a birds-eye view of some re- cent and expected trends in Hawaiis diversified agricul- ture, primarily as they relate to the topic of this con- ference, The 1970 Honolulu Market for Produce and Livestock. By diversified agricul ture is meant here the production of all agricultural products other than sugar cane and pineapple. Specifically, I am going to dis- cuss changes between 1947-1949 and 1957-1958 in: 1. Value and physical volume of diversified agri- cultural products, 2. Prices of diversified agricultural products, 3. Size and number of diversified farms, and 4. Oahus share in Hawaiis diversified agricul- tural production. 1. VALUE AND PHYSICAL VOLUME OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS The value of average annual marketings of diversi- fied agricultural products produced in the islands greatly increased between 1947-1949 and 1957-1958 (Figure 1 arid Table 1).
