Clinical Research on Improving Insulin Resistance of Type 2 Diabetes Patients with Shengmaijiangtang Potion Speciality: Internal medicine of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Author: Wang Feifei Tutor: Prof. Xu Yunsheng Abstract Objective: To observe and prove the therapeutic efficacy of supplementing qi and nourishing yin, clearing heat and activating blood principles for Shengmaijiangtang Potion on improving insulin resistance of type 2 diabetes patients, and to explore its functional mechanism deeply through the clinical research. Methods: 60 cases of type 2 diabetes patients met inclusion criteria were divided into treatment group (30 cases) and control group (30 cases) by randomized method. The treatment group was given Shengmaijiangtang Potion, and the control group was given metformin hydrochloride enteric-coated tablets on the basis of routine therapy for 8 weeks. The changes of clinical symptoms, BMI, FPG, 2hPG, HbA C, FINS, IRI, IAI, blood-lipid 1 (TC, TG, LDL-C, HDL-C) and blood rheology were observed before and after therapy in both groups. Result: 1. The clinical symptoms of the treatment group were obviously improved, there were significant differences compared with the control group (P0.05 or P0.01); 2. The total score of clinical symptoms was decreased remarkably in the treatment group, there was extremely significant difference in the treatment group before and after therapy (P0.01), and between the two groups (P0.01); 3. The level of BMI was decreased remarkably in the treatment group, there was extremely significant difference in the treatment group before and after therapy (P0.01), and between the two groups (P0.01); 4. The l
