Clinical and Experimental Study on the Therapy of Steroid-induced Avascular Necrosis of the Femoral Head by HuoXueBuShen Fang Speciality：Orthopaedicics of TCM Author ：Guo Ya Tutor：Professor Zhang Shihua Abstract Objective ：To study the curative effect of HuoXueBuSen Fang in treating steroid-induced avascular necrosis of the femoral head （SANFH）and to investigate its possible mechanism ． Methods ：In the clinical study，HuoXueBuShen Fang was used in 24 cases of SANFH as the treated group compared with 21 cases treated by XianLingGuBao Capsule for curative effect observation ．The difference on cure rate，clinical symptoms，laboratory examinations between the two groups were observed ．In the experimental study，24 New Zealand rabbits were randomly divided into 4 groups ：normal group ，model group ，control group and treated group ．The rabbits in control group were treated with XianLingGuBao Capsule and HuoXueBuShen Fang was used in treated group ．8 weeks later，to determine the content of Bone gla protein (BGP) 、Hemorheology ． Results ：In the clinical study ，there was quite difference in comparison with pretreatment and post-treatment in treated groupe and contrastive groupe and the effect was better in treated groupe than contrastive groupe ．And the results showed that HuoXueBuSen Fang can effectively improve the symptoms of SANFH ．The experimental study showed in the model group the necrosis of femoral head was obvious，the content of BGP in plasma was apparently lower ，the contents of hemorheology were higher ．All the indices had obvious changes in the control group and the treated group ．The changes of above indices had significant difference in the treated group and control group ． Conclusion：Thro
