Unit 14 Zoology Ⅰ.Brief Statements Based on the Unit We all know that animals play an important part in our life.They are friends of human beings.We can not live without animals.The topic of this unit is about animals and their behaviour.Warming up designs an interesting exercise to arouse the students’ interest in the topic of this unit.In this part,some words are given to the students.They are asked to match these words with the humorous definitions given.In this way,students’ attention can be easily drawn to the topic.Listening helps students learn something about animals in the zoo.Students are asked to have a debate in English on some topics given.It is a good way to practise spoken English.Pre-reading gets students to have a discussion on animal communication.Reading is an essay on how honey-bees communicate with each other.In this part students are asked to understand the passage well and learn some important language points.Post-reading helps students further understand the text.In the aspect of Language Study,students should master the usages of some important words and phrases in this unit.They are aslo given an exercise to review some modal verbs.Integrating skills include two parts:Reading and Writing.Reading tells students much knowledge about primates while Writing requires students to write an essay on primates according to the topics given. Ⅱ.Teaching Goals 1.Talk about animals and animal behaviour 2.Practise debating 3.Integrative language practice. 4.Write an argumentative essay.
