Usually, there are our phases in an ecosystem adaptive cycle, i . e. , the phases o exploitation , conservation , release and reorganization; the irst two phases o which can be predicted and the last tw o can not or their complexity and easy to change. The basic concepts o regional ecosystem adaptive management were put orward and the theoretical ramework o that w as established in this paper. Then , Xiaojiang w atershed in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area was taken as a study area. The characteristics o landscape pattern and ecolog ical threats in the study area w ere analyzed. Finally
