Executive The President of the United States of America is the head of state and head of government of the United States. The president leads the executive branch(行政机构) of the federal government and is the commander-in-chief of the United States Armed Forces. This position places its holder in leadership of the nation that has the largest economy and the most expensive military, with command authority over the largest active nuclear arsenal(核军火库). is elected indirectly by the people, through an Electoral College(总统选举团) Judiciary The judicial branch (or judiciary), composed of the Supreme Court and lower federal courts, exercises judicial power (or judiciary). The judiciarys function is to interpret (解释)the United States Constitution and federal laws and regulations. legislature The United States Congress includes:the Senate (参议院)and the House of Representatives(众议院) The major power of the Congress is to pass federal legislation that affects the entire country decentralization States governments have the power to make laws that are not granted to the federal government.
