Language notes 1.so that引导结果状语从句, “结果;以致;因此”,表示做某事的结果,so that前常用逗号隔开。 eg: 他早早起床,因此赶上了头班公共汽车。 He got up early, so that he caught the first bus. so that 引导目的状语从句, “为的是;以便”,表示做某事的目的,句中常常有情态动词can, could, may, might等; eg: 所有学生都努力地学习以便能通过考试。 All the students studied hard so that they could pass the exams. 注意: so…that… 2.graduate from 意为 “毕业于” eg:我们明年将从青西中学毕业。 We will graduate from Qingxi Middle School next year. 3.devote 动词,意思是“奉献(自己、时间、精力);专心;献身”。与介词to连用,后接名词或v-ing形式。devote oneself to意思是 “致力于,献身于”。 eg:他全心致力于教育学生. He devotes himself to teaching . 4.The technology for hybrid rice was introduced to the United States. 一般现在时的被动语态:be (am/is/are) +v(pp) 一般过去时的被动语态:be (was/were) +v(pp) eg: Many people speak English in the world.
