Activity1
This activity is based on in primary school English students’ book7. Lesson 1 “May I use the telephone here?”
Purpose: how to use the sentences for calling.
Instructions: students review the new words, they can based on the new words to make a dialogue. Listen to the tape and do the practice.
Procedures:
Step 1: Review the last new words. Ask some students to answer, for example, the first new word is ring up, the second is a telephone, the third one is an IP card, the last one is use a telephone.
Step2: Let’s talk and make a dialogue in groups use this words.
Step 3:
A: May I use a telephone? I have an IP card.
B: Sure/certainly. But who will you ring up?
A: My grandpa/ My father/My mother…… today is his/ her birthday, I want to say “happy birthday” to him/ her.
B: You are really a nice boy!
Step 4: Practice in groups, then act the dialogue in front of class.
Step5: Listen to the tape about practice. At the same time, fill in the blacks and the teacher circulates the students’ work.
Step6: Some groups are asked to show their performance in front of class.
Activity2
This activity is based on lesson 2 “May I speak to Li Shan, please?”
Purpose: How to use the sentences for calling.
Instructions: Use the new words to make dialogues and practice five new sentences.
Procedures:
Step1: Review the last sentences.
Step2: Give the new sentences
May I speak to… please? / Who’s calling? / Who’s that?
This is … speaking. / Is that… speaking? /
Step3: Make a dialogue freely
Step4: We can based on this dialogue
A: Hello?
B: Hello! May I speak to Li Shan, please?
A:This is Li Shan speaking. Who’s calling?
B:This is Wang Xia. Tomorrow is Teachers’ Day. Let’s send a present to our teacher.
A:Good idea! But what present shall we send her?
B:What about some beautiful flowers?
A: That’s quite fine.
Step5: Practice in groups, then act the dialogue in front of class.
