* * Unit 1 Making difference Period 3 丁 国 植 Reading: Something about Stephen Hawking? He was born in 1942, got his doctor’s degree in physics, and did research at Cambridge University in England. By the age of 21 he had already begun his notice that is was difficult to move around without falling over. Although he had problems with his brain, which was getting worse, he decided to continue with his research and his writing. He had to find ways that would make it possible for him to speak, read and write, even though he could later only move the fingers of one hand. In 1988 his book A brief History of Time became a best-seller. Though he has suffered a terrible disease, it can’t prevent him from being one of the greatest physicists in our time. Let’s know more about Hawking on page 3. We shall learn NO BOUNDARIES today. For reading: 1. Talk about the pictures. 2. Read quickly to answer the pre-reading questions 3.
