Abstract: A meso-scale characteristics analysis for the flash flood-inducing rainstorm over Huaihe R iver Basin in
2007 w as performedw ith the rainfall data of h igh density automatic observation, Doppler-radar data, FY - 2 double
satellite TBB and LAPSmeso-scale analysis data etc. Some sign ificant resu lts are obtained. ( 1)The rainfallw as lo-
calizedmainly in theHuaihe R iver Basin. The rainfall intensity w as strong and the rainfall area w as stable. The
temporal- spatial d istribution of intensityw as very favorable to occurrence of the flood. Itw as a typ icalFlash flood-
inducing rainstorm process. ( 2) The heavy rain areaw as correlatedw ith the formation, development andmovement
ofm eso-scale convergence d isturbances at the low-m iddle layer, comb in ing w ith the intense developm en
