College of Resources Science T echnology, BeijingNormalUniversity, Beijing 100875, China) Abs tract: This paper firstly reviews the advance in the research on spatia-l temporal variability of dust storms in China and then based on theground observation data of 117 stations in 50 years and using dust storm days as the in- dex, the change of dust storms is analyzed by the correlation analysis. In addition, thepaperdoes some research on the change of the grassland, desert, and agriculturalarea in northern China. The results show s that: in recent 50 years, the dust storm weather deceased as awhole, and the frequency of dust storm has a very correlative relation- ship w ith the ground condition, meanwhile, the dust storm s has obvious inter-decade change in last50 years.
