Many people choose cruise ship as their first choice for travel. However， there are still some problems and challenges existing in the development of cruise ship tourism in Qingdao. For example， the infrastructure is not perfect， the urban scale is small， the awareness is not high， the cruise industry service system is not perfect， professional talent is scarce， etc. However， some measures can be taken to solve these problems and challenges. Long-run development of the cruise ship tourism needs a proper and effective planning. So these problems need to be analyzed. 　　1 SWOT Analysis for the Development of Cruise Tourism in Qingdao 　　1.1 Strengths analysis 　　1.1.1 Natural advantage 　　Qingdao is located in the southern part of the Shandong Peninsula， the eastern and southern parts are on the verge to the Yellow Sea； the mainland coastline is 730.64 kilometers， plus the island’s coastline which belongs to Qingdao， the city’s coastline has a total length of 862.64kilometers.The number of existing islands is 69， with a total area of 21.1 square kilometers and 132 kilometers of coastline. It has long deep-water coastline and many wharfs； water depth and fairways are in good conditions； near downtown and has more room for development； tourism resources surrounding is rich， and has many cultural
