Government controls only about 20 enterprises (SOE) including four banks rescued during the 2008 GFC. Government owns the nuclear defence establishment, the National Health Service and the Royal Mint and some transport operations. It has just privatized the Royal Mail service. China State-owned Enterprises (SOE’s ),collective enterprises, and joint-stock enterprises ( mixed State and private) serving both ??private profit?? and ??State imperatives??, account for about 70% of all Chinese corporate assets. Private enterprises, on average much smaller, account for only about 20 % of assets and foreign companies account for 10%.
