A Brief Introduction of Confucius
A Brief Introduction of Confucius;Confucius- Spokesperson of Chinese Culture;Confucius; Thinker

Philosopher
Founder of the Confucian school and Confucianism
Symbol of Chinese culture;Profile of Confucius;Main Works; The Analects of Confucius 《论语》;;The Analects of Confucius (1); Such a ruler would spread his own virtues to the people instead of imposing proper behavior with laws and rules. One of the deepest teachings of Confucius may have been the superiority of personal exemplification over explicit rules of behavior. Because his moral teachings emphasise self-cultivation,emulation of moral exemplars, and the attainment of skilled judgment rather than knowledge of rules, Confuciuss ethics may be considered a type of virtue ethics. His teachings rarely rely on reasoned argument, and ethical ideals and methods are conveyed more indirectly, through allusions, innuendo, and even tautology. This is why his teachings need to be examined and put into proper context in order to be understood. A good example is found in this famous anecdote:
;Confucian quotes;
Look not at what is contrary to propriety; listen not to what is contrary to propriety; speak not what is contrary to propriety; make no movement which is contrary to propriety.
The wise find pleasure in water; the virtuous find pleasure in hills. The wise are active; the virtuous are tranquil. The wise are joyful; the virtuous are long-lived.
What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others.
By nature, men are nearly alike; by practice, they get to be wide apart .
Keep what you say and carry out what you do.
When I walk along with two others, they may serve me as my teachers.
I will select their good qualities and follow them, their bad qualities and avoid them.
