Legal History of Traditional China From western Zhou to late Ch’ing (1046 B.C. ~ 1900 A.D.) According to archaeology, the first slavery State in ancient China, Xia(夏), lasted for more than 4 centuries from around 2070 B.C. and was succeeded by a second State, Shang(商), which last for another 5 centuries.
