The most common type of anaesthetic machine in use in the developed world is the continuous-flow anaesthetic machine, which is designed to provide an accurate and continuous supply of medical gases (such as oxygen and nitrous oxide), mixed with an accurate concentration of anaesthetic vapour (such as sulfuring 异氟烷), and deliver this to the patient at a safe pressure and flow. Modern machines incorporate a ventilator, suction unit, and patient-monitoring devices. Nitrous oxide, commonly known as “laughing gas”, is a chemical compound with the chemical formula N2O. At room temperature, it is a colorless non-flammable gas, with a pleasant, slightly sweet odor and taste. It is used in surgery and dentistry for its anesthetic and analgesic(止痛) effects. It is known as “laughing gas” due to the euphoric(欣快的) effects of inhaling it, a property that has led to its recreational use as an inhalant(吸入的) drug.
