Dynamic Range is specified per pulse width. Its formal definition is the dB range between the beginning of backscatter at the start of the trace to the top part of the noise at the far end of the screen. Larger Dynamic Range values mean you can test longer fibers. To determine how long of a fiber you can test, divide the average loss dB/Km in a fiber into the Dynamic Range.
