Book 2 Unit 2 The Olympic Games
Good morning, professionals. It’s my great honor and pleasure to be here to share my lesson with you. I have prepared for this representation with six parts: Analysis of teaching material, Analysis of students, Teaching methods and aids, Teaching procedures, Blackboard design and Teaching reflection.
Part 1 Anal ysis of the Teaching Material:
The lesson I’ll talk about is New Senior English Book 2 Unit 2 The Olympic Games. This is period1 which is involved with spoken English and extensive reading.
Warming up provides a quiz about the Olympic Games. Its purpose is to introduce students the ancient and modern Olympic Games.
Pre-reading contains two general questions about the ancient and modern Olympic games. Students can be encouraged to discuss them in pairs.
Reading passage is an interview which introduces the similarities and differences between the ancient and modern Olympic Games. We should train students’ reading ability by skimming for general idea and scanning for further understanding. The teacher deal with the technical words in sports first. Then let students do the two exercises in Comprehending to see how much they have understood the Reading passage.

Get students to understand the reading passage and master the new words, expressions and important sentences in this lesson.
Let students learn about the basic knowledge on the Olympic Games.

1) Develop students’ reading abilities and let them learn different reading skills
