Functions of Documents In international trade, a document can serve many purposes, including： (1) proof of ownership of a shipment (eg. the negotiable bill of lading), (2) evidence of the particulars of a sale (eg. the commercial invoice), (3) proof or evidence of the country of origin of goods (the certificate of origin), proof of insurance coverage (the insurance policy or certificate), (4) reassurance of the quality or quantity of goods in a shipment (eg. the inspection certificate)． Section 1 Introduction to Trade Documents 2.Categories of Documentation Transaction Documents, (2) Transport (Shipping) Documents, (3) Export Documents, (4) Import Documents, (5) Banking Documents, (6) Special Documents. 3.
