Explain China Insurance Clause and Institute Cargo Clause. 3. Discuss types of insurance documents. Section 1 Marine Insurance 1. Definition Marine insurance is defined as a contract of marine insurance whereby the insurer undertakes to indemnify the assured in a manner and to the extent thereby agreed, against marine losses. Marine loss is referred to as the special term “average”. Section 1 Marine Insurance 2. Scope The scope of maritime insurance covers: insured perils, average and insured expenses. Perils result from either loss of damage from the sea like natural calamity and fortuitous accidents or extraneous risks. According to the extent of the loss, it can be either total or partial. Partial loss can be classified as: general average and particular average. There are mainly two types of expenses incurred: sue and labor expenses and salvage charges.
