Reading Teaching aims: 1. Knowledge: To get the main meaning of the text. 2. Ability: Train the students to improve their reading and analyzing abilities. 3. Morality: Love your own objects and mind other’s opinion. Cellphones like other things have advantages and also disadvantages. Teaching important points: Reading comprehension and the ability of skimming and scanning. Teaching difficult points: How to improve the student’s reading ability. Understanding cellphones can sometimes cause problems. Methods: Leaner-centered and communicative approach. Teaching Aids: 1.a computer 2.a tape recorder Teaching Procedures: Step 1. Warming up and discussion (幻灯片2) Watch the short movie on the screen and discuss the topic “What kind of cellphone do you want?” (幻灯片2) Watch the short movie on the screen and discuss the topic “why are cellphones convenient?” Step 2. T: (Show a mobile phone to the students.)We all know this is a mobile phone. More and more people are using it. It has changed our way of life. I think some of you already have one. Now we’ll have a discussion in groups and discuss a few questions on the screen about mobile phones and other popular things like computers and TV. Now look at the screen. Let’s begin. (Teacher shows the questions on the screen.) (幻灯片4—6 ) 1. Have you ever used a cell phone? Do any of your classmates have cell phones? 2. How is the way we live today different from the one in the past? How have inventions and new technology changed our way of life? 3.Why are things like cell phones, computers and TV so popular?
