I. Background information Analysis of the Teaching Material: In this chapter Section A 1a-2c, Unit 4 Don’t eat in class! , students learn to talk about school rules. Such a topic is so familiar to students that they must be active in all the activities in class. It is helpful to raise students’ learning interest and useful to improve their listening and speaking skills. Analysis of the Students: Grade 1 students had experienced a semester at school; they have gotten familiar with the school. They have something to say about the school rules. Moreover, they are courageous and desire to show themselves in class. Therefore, it is easy to arouse their interest in English. As a result, based on students prior knowledge and real life experience, we should try to use direct method, so that students can communicate in a real context, which aims at expanding students’ knowledge of the language on this basis. So our class should be based on activities to let students fully participate and enable students to fully reflect the learning process. Lesson duration: 45 mins Teaching aids: multi-media, key word list for every student Giving out before class , an apple, tapes Type of the lesson: listening and speaking II. Teaching aims and Demands: Knowledge Objects: By the end of the lesson, students should be able to: get familiar with these key words and phrases: Nouns: rule, hallway, fight Verbs: arrive, fight, wear, bring, imperatives Don’t… , Can for permission, and Model verbs have to, must Adverbs: outside Phrases:, on time, listen to, dining hall get familiar with the sentence pattern: Don’t eat in class! -Can we wear hats? –No, we can’t We can’t arrive late for class. You must eat in the dining hall. We don’t have to wear a school uniform. Ability Objects: By the end of the lesson, students should be able to: 1. express meanings of some signs in English. 2. use model verbs and imperatives to talk about rules and express their ideas shortly.
