The short current paths are created from the remaining metals during the production of solar cell. These tiny dusts or flakes present in the semiconductor causing short current paths can be eliminated by applying reverse biased voltage below breakdown voltage to cell. Confidential Information Background Information The reverse bias voltage is applied by contacting the solar cell to a power source and applying a voltage sufficient to burn out the shorts and shunts but less than the breakdown voltage of the cell. This experiments will help to investigate limitation and sufficient duration of voltage application to heat and burn out the defects and first characterizing individual cell performance.
