I’d rather go to Blue Ocean because I like to listen to quiet music while I’m eating. ①would rather do sth 宁愿做… I would rather stay at home in such bad weather. would rather not do sth 宁愿不做… I would rather not go out tonight. ②rather than 是一个并列连词词组，“而不是，并非…”，常用于平行结构中，连接名词/代词/动词/介词短语/形容词/副词/动词不定式(省略to)/动词-ing…。 He’s at home rather than at school. (介词短语) I like swimming rather than running. (动词-ing) I decide to write rather than telephone. (动词不定式) She does her homework rather than watches TV. (动词) ③would rather do sth than do sth = prefer to do sth rather than do sth =prefer doing sth to doing sth Jim would rather listen to music rather than go swimming. 3. Waiting for Amy drove Tina crazy. ①drive sb. crazy / mad “让某人抓狂；使某人发疯”，相当于make sb. crazy / mad So much work almost drives me crazy. 这么多工作几乎让我抓狂。 ②drive sb to do sth “驱使/迫使某人去做某事” Hunger drove him to steal. 4. The movie was so sad that it made Tina and Amy cry. 辨析so…that和so that. so… that… “如此…以至于…”，引导结果状语从句 The article is so difficult that I can’t understand it. I studied so hard that I got the first place. so that “以便…;为了…”,引导目的状语从句。 I get up early so that I can catch the early bus. I study hard so that I can have a good future. 5. The more I got to know Julie, the more I’ve realized that we have a lot in common. So we’ve been spending more time together lately. (1)the+比较级+从句 ，the +比较级+从句,“越……, 越……” The harder you work, the greater progress you will make. (2)get to do sth “开始做某事”，往往暗示一个较长的过程，含有“渐渐开始”之意，此时get后接的不定式通常为to know, to like, to hate, to understand, to realize
