8 Well Servicing 8.1 General Well servicing involves multi-party operation and presents potential hazards to personnel and assets. Communication among all parties involved is crucial to the successful performance of well servicing operations. This communication shall begin from pre-job planning and continue until the job is completed. Upon arriving at the location, the service company’s representative should report directly to the client‘s onsite representative and rig manager. They will be sent to the appropriate place for safety orientation and accommodations. It is recommended that a joint operational meeting should be held with all service companies concerned. This meeting should be held immediately prior to the job. A combined pre-job safety meeting should be held with all related service and rig personnel before the work be conducted. The meeting shall include reviewing the task, responsibilities and coordinating combined efforts; analyzing potential danger, hazardous chemicals/ materials to be used and safety and risk control measures; identifying the hand signals or other means of communication, etc. A safe zone should be cordoned off to indicate potential high danger zones such as pressurized lines, overhead falling objects, etc. As to safety requirement of special operations such as handling radioactive sources or explosive devices, refer to 7.4 Handling of Dangerous Substance 8.2 Wireline Logging A pre-job safety meeting shall be held prior to wireline logging. Lift wireline logging equipment by means of air tugger shall be directed by dedicated person. Slings and hooks shall be firmly secured. Brakes should be firstly checked or inspected before operating air hoist, and the operation should be performed by following relevant operational rules and regulations.
