UK delegation to promote low carbon vehicle technology in emerging Chinese market UK advanced engineering skills will be promoted to Chinese businesses this week as a group of UK automotive companies showcase their low carbon expertise and capabilities through a series of technical seminars with leading Chinese automotive, aerospace and engineering companies. Supported by UK Trade and Investment UKTI and the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders SMMT , the eight company strong business delegation will visit Shenzhen on 21 – 22 June to deliver a series of focused automotive low carbon technology presentations. The group will also travel to the Shanghai on 23 – 24 June to promote UK advanced engineering excellence in the margins of the World Expo. The group will meet key Chinese business leaders interested in developing the low carbon vehicle market in China and abroad. SMMT chief executive Paul Everitt said, “The move toward ultra-low carbon vehicles creates significant opportunities for both the UK and China. The UK motor industry has developed the skills, capabilities and technological strengths that are needed and is able to offer the Chinese market exciting new products and the advanced engineering skills needed to secure its success in the global automotive market. With a substantial manufacturing base and growing new car market, China represents a significant opportunity for further investment and growth.” SMMT chief executive Paul Everitt will speak at the Shenzhen technical seminar and the Shanghai event, outlining the technical capabilities of the UK market. Mr Everitt will highlight companies like Ricardo, MIRA, Prodrive and Lotus which provide high value consultancy and professional services to vehicle manufacturers and suppliers across the globe. Leading UK design engineering companies have shown a strong interest in developing new contacts in the rapidly expanding Chinese market.
