Support remote control on ServiceWise team web Summary: Within ServiceWise team web, as well as AssetWise web in the near future, we shall support remote control of computers. Multiple methods of remote control shall be supported. For VNC distributions, we assume that one or more distribution of VNC server and its Java viewer module has already been deployed to targeted computers. What is required from TechExcel is a URL to the Java viewer module, configurable from ServiceWise admin. Supported versions: ServiceWise 9.0. Admin For each base project, add a new setting page: “Remote control” as shown below, The page looks like: The checkbox “Enable team members to remotely control computers using web Java viewer provided by your VNC distribution” controls the entire section. If it is unchecked, everything within the group box shall be disabled. The first group box “Configure remote control methods” allows admin to add multiple methods to remotely control a computer: Click on “Add/edit” to configure a method: “Name” will be used later by the team web client. “Type” contains 2 options at present: “URL” and “Command”: Lastly, either a default URL or command can be specified for each method. Actual URL examples could be like the following: http://computer:5800 01:5800 The next group box “Specify applicable devices to be remotely controlled” allows admin to configure devices available for remote control: Clicking on “Add” brings up: The values in the “field” dropdown shall be filtered according to the selection of asset category and template. Also, only “textbox” type of field shall appear here.
