Go through the summarizing paragraph on P147 and ask the Ss the pre-reading questions on P148 to help the students to have some idea of the theme of this unit including Text A. 2. Pre-reading listening Do the listening practice on P148 as a further warming-up exercise. ii) Words and expressions: Go through the words and expressions, paying attention to pronunciation meanings having in mind synonyms and antonyms word building: learn word building knowledge to enlarge vocabulary in terms of compound words, suffixes, prefixes and word roots. compound words; suffixes: -ly, -ive and -ary can be added to some words to form adjective forms.
