Abstract of Doctoral work: Synthesis of isatins with incorporation of other biologically important heterocyclic systems by molecular conjunction, adopting appropriate synthetic routes. Purification and characterization of all the new compounds including those of intermediates. Evaluation of the new compounds for their biological and / or pharmacological properties by standard methods. Studies in qualitative structure activity relationship within each series and across different series. All the six series of compounds have been screened for their cytotoxic activity against HeLa cell lines and HBL-100 cell lines by MTT method. The results of the evaluation have been viewed by taking Cisplatin IC50 25 M as the standard one. But, none of the new compounds is comparable in cytotoxicity with that of standard Cisplatin employed. M.
