Not only do I depend on them for money, food, clothes etc, but they are also the safe havens that always shelter me whenever I’m hurt. They help me to distinguish between right and wrong, and give me the solid values around which to build up my life. They teach me how to make decisions at the crossroads. When I’m faced with difficulties, I also turn to my friends for help. They will always give me advice, and back me up when I deal with challenges. The faith and love between us remain here in my heart. I have met many setbacks and challenges, but I always manage to get through them, owing to my parents and my friends’ help. I thank them for the warmness and support they gave me in the process of growing up. 【广东省广州市调研测试 读写任务 共1小题,满分25分 阅读下面的短文,然后按照要求写一篇150词左右的英语短文。 In recent years educators and parents have become concerned about the poor performance of boys in school. The so-called “boy crisis 危机 ” in education refers to both their academic performance and their behaviour. In both areas boys’ results are much worse than girls’. USA data shows that boys rank behind girls in almost all areas of schooling. They earn lower grades overall in primary school and high school. They are behind girls in reading and writing, and 30 percent of them are in the bottom quarter of standardized tests, compared with 19 percent of girls. Boys are also more likely to have behavioural problems, to repeat a grade and to drop out of school altogether. Studies in China have found similar trends. Although the causes of the “boy crisis” are not fully understood, some experts believe that same-sex boys-only and girls-only classrooms and schools may help solve the problem. The idea is to remove some of the distractions caused by the opposite sex
